2 door vehicles with a ground or roof top tent can serve as capable overland vehicles with extreme off-road capabilities including very tight and challenging trails for 1-2 people, as long as the crew is willing and able to travel with limited creature comfort, even in inclement weather.  Any experienced traveler understands the benefits of being able to spend a couple of days inside in a warm and dry environment while the storm clears outside.  In a compact vehicle this option is rather limited.
