Now we are getting to the category of full-size HD trucks where payload is measured in tons rather than 100’s of pounds or kilograms, vehicle width is in the range of 2.35 – 2.5m and vehicle height can reach up to 4m.  Given their size and payload these vehicles allow comfortable travel to and extended stays in remote corners of the globe, assuming that they fit on the trails to get there.  Because of their size and weight these vehicles are most suited for wide open spaces like the open desert with endless sand dunes or the high North of the Americas and Asia with deep river crossings.  These trucks are not practical for exploring mountainous regions with tight shelf roads and tiny villages with narrow streets.  Everyone must decide what type of travel they are planning to embark on and choose their vehicle accordingly – see also “How to choose the right overlanding vehicle”.
